Today was the last day of the NCL (National Cyber League) 2018 Fall  Season regular play.  This was my first CTF and I found it challenging  and a good learning experience.  Up until now I’ve taken many courses  and completed several certifications, but competing in this event  provided me a glimpse of how far my knowledge and skills have grown and  what areas need more attention.  Below are my rankings for the preseason  and regular season games:

Preseason 10/19 - 10/27:

  • National Rank: 218 / 4730
  • Ranked within top 15% which qualified me for gold bracket in regular season.

Regular Season 11/2 - 11/4:

  • National Rank: 252 / 4730
  • Gold Bracket: 195 / 472

The main domains covered in this competition were:

  • OSI - Open Source Intelligence
  • Cryptography
  • Password cracking
  • Log Analysis
  • Network Traffic Analysis
  • Wireless Access Exploitation
